Mexican Style Hot Dog

  • 1 Brumby’s Long White Roll

  • 1 jalapeño & cheese sausage or pork sausage

  • 1 small brown onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 capsicum, thinly sliced

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 2 tsp olive oil

  • 2 tsp diced pickled jalapeños

  • 1 handful grated Mexican cheese mix or cheddar

  • a drizzle of chipotle sauce (as much as you like!)

  • a drizzle BBQ sauce

  • a sprinkle of chives to garnish (optional)


  • Step 1:

    Over medium-high heat, add 1 tsp olive oil into a medium fry pan.

  • Step 2:

    Add the onion and cook 3 minutes. Add the capsicum and cook until browned, about 3 more minutes, set aside.

  • Step 3:

    In the same pan, add the sausage and cook, turning until browned on each side. This takes about 6 minutes.

  • Step 4:

    Next, make a slit on lengthways down the roll and fill with your onion capsicum mix, then add your sausage.

  • Step 5:

    Sprinkle with the grated cheese and place under the grill on high heat for about 5 minutes until cheese is melted.

  • Step 6:

    Lasty, add both the BBQ and chipotle sauce, jalapeños. Lastly add the chives (optional), and eat while hot.
